The new multimodal Hub is officially open

The intermodal rail-road platform run by CFL multimodal has been officially inaugurated on Friday, July 7th in presence of HRH Grand-Duke Henri, Transportminister François Bausch and Minister for Economy Etienne Schneider.

The capacity of the HUb has basically quadrupled compared to the old hub. In the future, the enlarged hub of 30 hectar is planned to handle 300.000 containers via classic rail transport and 300.000 semi-trailers over the Lorry-Rail system per year. The old hub will become a secure lorry parking dedicated to enhance the pause of the drivers.
Open doors for the public and schools
In the context of the inauguration of the new intermodal terminal in Luxembourg, a big “Porte Ouverte” event took place on Sunday July 9 from 9.00 a.m. until 6.00 p.m. Containerland offered a unique opportunity to experience the terminal first-hand. 6,000 guests were registered for the weekend open door while school classes visit the site on Monday, July 10th.
